Beijing Capital International Airport (PEK) Guide

Fantastic airport ! The security and passport control were very fast. There are multiple toilets and water refill stations. The water from the water stations tasted good. The airport was not busy. We had great experience leaving Beijing. The only thing, that was not good, was the fare that a taxi man charged us on the way from the airport to the city centre. He demanded 360, when the fee should been 120. He was also refusing to give any change from 400 local money 😢

Beijing Capital International Airport (PEK) currently operates two active terminals: Terminal 2 (T2) and Terminal 3 (T3), while Terminal 1 (T1) is closed. Terminal 2: Serves mostly domestic flights, SkyTeam alliance airlines, and select international low-cost carriers. Terminal 3: Known as one of the largest airport terminals in the world, it primarily handles Air China flights, Star Alliance members, and the majority of international airlines. Inter-Terminal TransportationFree Shuttle Bus: A complimentary terminal shuttle runs between T2 and T3 every 10 to 15 minutes. It takes about 20 minutes to travel between terminals. Capital Airport Express: The downtown subway line connects T3 and T2 to the city center via Sanyuanqiao and Dongzhimen stations.

On June 1, my husband and I were traveling from Mexico City to Bangkok with a transfer in Beijing. We did not leave the airport during our connection. After arriving in Beijing, we went through the transfer/passport control area, where airport staff conducted a detailed inspection of our hand luggage. Three employees were involved in the inspection: one woman and two men. They asked us to open multiple bags and carefully examined our belongings, removing many items from our luggage. Once the inspection was completed, we had to spend several minutes repacking our belongings before continuing to our next flight to Bangkok. When we arrived in Bangkok, we discovered that our Meta smart glasses were missing. Both my husband and I clearly remember having the glasses before the inspection in Beijing. The last place either of us saw them was during this luggage inspection. We searched our belongings multiple times and confirmed that the glasses were no longer with us. Based on the timeline, the disappearance occurred during or immediately after the inspection process in Beijing. We are requesting that the airport review CCTV footage from the transfer security/passport control inspection area on June 1 and investigate what happened to the glasses. We are also sharing this experience so that other travelers can be extra careful with valuable items during detailed luggage inspections and keep a close watch on their belongings at all times.
